Ownership, now guardianship?
The plan behind changing ownership to
guardianship is to strip away the protection of the Constitution and Bill of
Rights. Guardianship is something that is ultimately overseen by the
government. The right to be a guardian is given by the government and
therefore may be taken away by that same government. Meaning you no longer
own the dogs/cats/other domestic
animals you bought from someone. The government owns them and may do with
them as the career politicians, federal hacks, lifetime drones see fit.
It is not in the best interest of either the domestic animals (in this case,
dogs) nor the owners to make that legal verbiage change. Allow it to happen and
you just gave away all your ability to protect your dog. It is much harder
to prove you are a bad owner than it is to prove you are a bad
guardian. As long as dogs are unable to read, write, pay bills, vote, sit
on a jury I will consider the idea of guardianship to be just exactly what it
is...one more clever move on the part of the AR folks.
Define bad owner in the most hurtful way. You have to go out of town on
very short notice. All boarding kennels that have been allowed to
temporarily remain open are full. Your home has a doggie door in the
kitchen that opens onto a covered patio that leads to a secure, fenced and
protected outside play area for your dog. You dog has always had full run
of your very large house. You have a dog walker who comes in once per day
when you are at work to spend an hour playing with your dog and your dog is
happy and comfortable with this person. You hire this dog walker to come
in 4 times per day and feed, water, play with your dog for the week you are
gone.
When you come back your dog is gone. Animal Control has taken him away
because you have been reported for leaving your dog unattended while you went
out of town. Hiring a dog walker rather than a live-in means you neglected
the dog. And yes, this little scenario has already played out in one of
the places where the guardianship wording has already been passed. The word
change is not a little, insignificant thing some people would have you believe.
